Once upon a time, in a remote mountain village, lived a carpenter named Lao Zhang. He was a master craftsman, his wood carvings were lifelike and famous far and wide. One day, a wealthy merchant came to him, wanting to commission a fine wood carving. Lao Zhang readily agreed, promising to complete it in a month. A month later, the merchant arrived at Lao Zhang's house. He saw Lao Zhang sitting at his workbench, carving knife in hand, motionless, staring at a piece of wood. The merchant asked in surprise, "Lao Zhang, where's the carving? Why haven't you started?" Lao Zhang calmly replied, "I've been planning. Every detail of this carving must be carefully considered, to achieve perfection. Once I start carving, I must finish it in one go, without interruption. Now I have planned each step, to ensure I make no mistakes, before I begin." The merchant was deeply moved. He understood that Lao Zhang's stillness wasn't due to laziness but to his determination to pursue perfection. In the end, Lao Zhang's carving was indeed exquisite, and the merchant was very satisfied.
