It is said that Lu You, a poet of the Song Dynasty, suffered from many diseases in his later years, and his body was deteriorating. One night, a heavy rain poured down, and he couldn't help feeling emotional as he listened to the patter of the rain outside the window. In his old age, his body was weak and he was suffering from illnesses, and his life was inconvenient. His heart was filled with sadness, so he wrote the famous poem "Listening to the Rain": "Frail and infirm, the illness is not yet over, and even more are the worldly affairs that spoil my quiet sentiment. A bamboo bed and bamboo flute are barely enough comfort; I listen to the pattering of the autumn rain." The verse "frail and infirm" is a true portrayal of his physical condition at the time, showing his helplessness and sadness at his old age and inability to move around freely.
