话说唐朝时期，长安城里住着一位名叫李白的书生，他自幼聪颖过人，过目不忘，被称为聪明绝顶。一天，李白在长安街头闲逛，看到一位老先生在卖字画。李白上前观赏，发现老先生的字画技艺精湛，笔法流畅，神韵非凡，不禁赞叹不已。老先生见李白如此欣赏，便问道："小兄弟，你对字画也颇有研究？"李白谦虚一笑，说道："略知一二。"老先生心生好奇，便出题考他："请你以‘秋’字为题，赋诗一首。"李白略一沉思，便提笔写道："秋风瑟瑟落叶飞，寒霜点点染山衣。落霞孤鹜齐飞去，秋水长天共一色。"老先生读罢，连连称赞："好诗！好诗！此诗意境深远，笔力雄健，果然名不虚传！"李白谦虚地笑了笑，说道："我只是略尽绵薄之力。"老先生见李白如此谦逊，更加欣赏他的才华，便将自己珍藏的一幅字画赠送给李白，并鼓励他继续努力，将来定能成为一代文豪。从此，李白的聪明绝顶之名传遍长安城，成为人们津津乐道的话题。

It is said that during the Tang Dynasty, there lived a scholar named Li Bai in the city of Chang'an. He was exceptionally intelligent since his youth and had a photographic memory; he was known as exceptionally intelligent. One day, Li Bai strolled through the streets of Chang'an and saw an old gentleman selling calligraphy and paintings. Li Bai went closer to admire the works and discovered that the old gentleman's artistry was extraordinary, with flowing brushstrokes and exceptional aura. He couldn't help but express his admiration. The old gentleman saw how much Li Bai admired his work and asked: "Young brother, do you also have some familiarity with calligraphy and painting?" Li Bai smiled modestly and said: "Just a little." The old gentleman was curious and posed him a task: "Please write a poem about autumn." Li Bai thought for a moment, took his brush, and wrote: "The autumn wind whispers, leaves fall, cold frost dyes the mountain clothes. Sunset shadows and wild geese fly together, the autumn water sky is one." The old gentleman read it, praising him repeatedly: "Great poem! Great poem! This poem has profound meaning, powerful strokes, it has truly proven itself!" Li Bai smiled modestly and said: "I have merely shown my humble effort." The old gentleman saw Li Bai's modesty and admired his talent even more, gifting Li Bai one of his treasured works, encouraging him to continue working and to become a great writer in the future. From then on, the reputation of Li Bai's exceptional intellect spread through Chang'an and became a popular topic of conversation.
