Origin Story
During the Tang Dynasty, a famous poet named Li Bai lived in Chang'an. One day, Li Bai's friend Wang Wei visited him and told him about his travels in Jiangnan. Wang Wei emphatically stated that he had seen blooming plum blossoms in Suzhou, and he vividly described the beauty of the plum blossoms using poetry. Li Bai was impressed by Wang Wei's talent and yearned for the scenery of Jiangnan. However, another friend of Li Bai, Du Fu, expressed doubts. Du Fu said, "In Jiangnan at this time of year, the weather is still cold; how could the plum blossoms be blooming?" Wang Wei remained adamant and showed photographs of the blooming plum blossoms as evidence. Only then did Du Fu believe Wang Wei and envied Wang Wei's trip to Jiangnan. This story tells us that sometimes, even without witnessing it ourselves, if the evidence is sufficient and the statement is convincing, we should believe it. Of course, we must always remain vigilant and prevent being deceived by false information.
