Origin Story
During the Warring States period, there was a famous diplomat named Chunyu Kun in the state of Qi. He was known for his intelligence, sharp tongue, and many diplomatic missions that brought many benefits to Qi. Once, the King of Qi sent Chunyu Kun as an ambassador to Chu. To make things difficult for Chunyu Kun, the King of Chu deliberately gave him a difficult problem: The King of Chu ordered people to dig a pit in the ground and then throw Chunyu Kun's hat into the pit. He asked him, “Your hat has fallen into the pit, what now?” Chunyu Kun replied without hesitation: “Your Majesty, don’t worry, my hat may have fallen into the pit, but my reputation is intact. If I present myself well, I can restore my reputation!” Then Chunyu Kun showed the King of Chu his abilities and gained his recognition. Later, Chunyu Kun successfully completed his diplomatic mission and returned to Qi. Because of his intelligence, courage, calmness in danger, and protection of his reputation and earning honor for Qi, he became a hero in the eyes of the people. But there are also rumors that Chunyu Kun later made a serious mistake, which caused Qi heavy losses, and eventually he fell from grace and became a negative lesson in history.
