During the Tang Dynasty, there was an official named Li Linfu, who was powerful and cunning. Once, the emperor asked him about some matters at court, including the corruption of some officials. Li Linfu knew the truth, but in order to protect himself and to avoid offending those officials, he adopted an evasive attitude. He always spoke evasively, using irrelevant topics to divert the emperor's attention, cleverly avoiding the emperor's questions. Although the emperor felt Li Linfu's evasion, he had no evidence to show that he was protecting those corrupt officials, so he could do nothing about it. In this way, Li Linfu used his superb political skills and clever language skills to successfully avoid the emperor's questioning, cleverly covering up those sensitive issues.
