非分之想 Unreasonable desires

非分之想指的是对超出自己身份、地位、能力范围的事物抱有的不切实际的幻想和奢望。通常含有贬义,表示不满足于现状,贪图不属于自己的东西。

Origin Story
话说古代有个穷秀才,寒窗苦读多年,却始终未能考取功名。一日,他路过一家富户,见其门庭富丽堂皇,心中羡慕不已,生出了非分之想:要是能娶了富户的女儿,从此过上荣华富贵的生活,那该多好!于是,他绞尽脑汁,想方设法接近富户,最终却只落得个自取其辱的下场。他空有非分之想,却忽略了自己的能力与现实差距,最终竹篮打水一场空。
Once upon a time, in ancient times, there was a poor scholar who had studied hard for many years, but had never been able to pass the imperial examination. One day, he passed a wealthy household and saw how luxurious and magnificent it was. He was envious and had unreasonable thoughts: if only he could marry the daughter of the wealthy household, live a life of luxury and honor, that would be great! So he racked his brains, trying every way to get close to the wealthy household, but in the end he only ended up humiliating himself. He had unreasonable thoughts, but ignored the gap between his ability and reality, and finally ended up empty-handed.

常用作宾语;常与“有”字连用。
