Explanation

Refers to the mutual connection between things, like a vein that runs through and can be interconnected. A metaphor for the mutual connection between things with an intrinsic connection.

Origin Story

Long ago, in a remote mountain village, lived two old men, one skilled in medicine, the other in carpentry. Though their crafts differed, they often exchanged ideas, discussing the mysteries of their respective skills. The old physician discovered that the principles governing the flow of the body’s meridians were strikingly similar to those of the carpenter’s joinery: the meridians, like the grain in wood, were interconnected and vital; and the mortise-and-tenon joints were like the nodes of meridians, connected and reliable. The old carpenter heartily agreed. He said, “The body’s meridians and carpentry, while seeming different, are fundamentally interconnected!” Their skills complemented each other, enhancing each other’s progress, until they became renowned craftsmen in the village.
