三千世界 sān qiān shì jiè Three Thousand Worlds

Explanation

佛教认为，宇宙由三千大千世界构成，每个大千世界包含一千个中千世界，每个中千世界又包含一千个小千世界，总共是三千个世界。后世也泛指全世界，处处。

Buddhism believes that the universe is composed of three thousand great worlds, each great world contains one thousand middle worlds, and each middle world contains one thousand small worlds, totaling three thousand worlds. Later generations also generally refer to the whole world, everywhere.

Origin Story

在遥远而神秘的西方极乐世界，住着一位慈悲为怀的观世音菩萨。她掌管着三千大千世界，守护着芸芸众生。一日，菩萨巡视人间，发现人间疾苦，战乱不断，百姓流离失所。菩萨心生悲悯，她决定前往人间，帮助那些饱受苦难的人们。她化身成一位美丽的女子，来到人间，用自己的智慧和慈悲，化解了许多矛盾，拯救了许多生命。她行医治病，为贫苦百姓提供食物和住所，甚至还帮助人们重建家园。她的善行感动了无数人，人们纷纷歌颂她的功德。菩萨默默地付出，她没有想过要得到任何回报，她只希望人间能够充满和平与幸福。在菩萨的努力下，三千大千世界逐渐恢复了平静，人们的生活也越来越好。

In the distant and mysterious Western Paradise, lives a compassionate Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. She governs over three thousand great worlds and protects all living beings. One day, the Bodhisattva inspected the human world and found that human suffering and wars were endless, with people displaced and homeless. The Bodhisattva was filled with compassion and decided to go to the human world to help those suffering. She transformed into a beautiful woman and came to the world, resolving many conflicts and saving countless lives with her wisdom and compassion. She practiced medicine, provided food and shelter to the poor, and even helped people rebuild their homes. Her good deeds touched countless people, and people sang praises of her merits. The Bodhisattva worked silently and did not expect any reward; she only hoped that the world would be filled with peace and happiness. With the Bodhisattva's efforts, three thousand worlds gradually recovered their peace, and people's lives became better and better.

Usage

形容世界之广阔，也常用于形容范围之大。

xiáorong shìjiè zhī guǎngkuò, yě cháng yòng yú xiáorong fànwéi zhī dà

Describes the vastness of the world, but is also often used to describe the magnitude of the scope.
