In the Tang Dynasty, there was a corrupt official named Li Zhong, who oppressed the people and did nothing good. He not only accepted bribes but also kidnapped women and killed innocent people. The people hated him, but there was nothing they could do. One day, during an inspection, Li Zhong saw an old farmer working hard in the field and demanded money from him. The farmer reluctantly gave Li Zhong his few copper coins. Li Zhong, seeing the farmer as poor, showed no compassion but oppressed him even worse. The farmer, filled with grief and anger, eventually died. After the news spread, it led to popular uprisings. The people condemned Li Zhong’s cruelties and believed that his behavior was not permitted by morality. Eventually, heaven sent a punishment, and Li Zhong was struck by lightning and died. From then on, people used the expression “Tian Li Nan Rong” to describe heinous and monstrous evil deeds.
