In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Dong Zhuo usurped power and ruled tyrannically, causing fear among the court officials. Wang Yun, the Situ (a high-ranking official), devised a plan with his adopted daughter, Diao Chan, to use beauty to sow discord between Dong Zhuo and Lü Bu. Wang Yun first betrothed Diao Chan to Lü Bu, then offered her to Dong Zhuo. With her beauty and tenderness, Diao Chan quickly won Dong Zhuo's favor, while Dong Zhuo's tyranny infuriated Lü Bu. Diao Chan secretly confided in Lü Bu, praising his unmatched martial arts and thunderous reputation. After hearing this, Lü Bu became even more enraged and secretly decided to eliminate Dong Zhuo. Eventually, with Wang Yun's instigation, Lü Bu assassinated Dong Zhuo, eliminating a great threat to the kingdom. Diao Chan's scheme also elevated Lü Bu's "reputation," making him instantly famous.
