市井之徒 commoners
Explanation
旧指做买卖的人或街道上没有受过教育的人。现在也泛指那些行为粗俗、缺乏教养的人。
It formerly referred to merchants or uneducated people on the streets. Now it also generally refers to those who are vulgar and lack education.
Origin Story
熙熙攘攘的集市上，叫卖声此起彼伏。李大娘正忙着招呼顾客，她家的豆腐远近闻名。一个衣着光鲜的公子哥儿来到摊位前，嫌弃地皱了皱眉：“你这豆腐，也太粗糙了吧！”李大娘不卑不亢地说：“公子，这豆腐是用最普通的黄豆，经过最传统的工艺制作而成，虽然卖相不佳，却朴实无华，味道纯正。”公子哥儿尝了一口，顿时眼睛一亮，连连称赞。李大娘只是笑了笑，继续忙着招呼其他市井之徒。她深知，自己的豆腐，虽然不讨好那些讲究排场的达官贵人，却深受普通百姓的喜爱。
The bustling market was filled with the sounds of vendors hawking their wares. Li, a kind woman known for her delicious tofu, was busy serving customers. A richly dressed young man approached her stall, wrinkling his nose in disdain. "Your tofu," he sneered, "is far too rough!" Li replied calmly, "Sir, this tofu is made from the most ordinary soybeans, using traditional methods. While it may not be visually appealing, it is simple, honest, and has a pure taste." The young man took a bite, his eyes widening in surprise. He immediately praised its flavor. Li simply smiled and continued to serve her other customers. She knew that her tofu, while perhaps not appealing to wealthy and demanding nobles, was greatly loved by the common people.
