In ancient China, there was a gang of thieves who committed countless crimes. Their methods were cruel and the people suffered. The government organized numerous arrests, but they could never catch them all. There were always a few who slipped through the net and hid in the mountains, waiting for their chance to strike again. One of the most cunning of these thieves was named Shi Jingtang. He was nimble, clever, and a master of disguise. He repeatedly escaped capture. In one major roundup, he used his knowledge of the terrain and exceptional climbing skills to flee from the encirclement. He escaped, angering officials. Shi Jingtang later heard of a remote mountain village with few people. He hid there, living a clandestine existence, always afraid of being discovered. However, justice prevails. A year later, the authorities finally found his hiding place and he was arrested. Shi Jingtang's arrest marked the end of the gang, and the people finally enjoyed peace once more.
