Origin Story
In the Tang Dynasty, there was an official named Li Bai, who was very talented and made many contributions to the country. However, he was very arrogant and acted autocratically, never listening to others' opinions. Once, the court decided to build a grand palace, and Li Bai was appointed chief engineer. He designed the blueprints, formulated the construction plan, and even personally selected the materials, completely ignoring the suggestions of other officials and craftsmen. As a result, because Li Bai's design was overly idealistic and ignored the practical circumstances, the project was severely delayed and far exceeded the budget. The court was very unhappy, and Li Bai was ultimately severely punished for his autocratic actions. This story tells us that when doing anything, we should humbly listen to others' opinions and never act autocratically, otherwise, we will suffer losses.
