When Li Lao-shi wasn't looking, Wang Da-fu secretly took a few pieces of gold and jewels and left with his people. Li Lao-shi realized his gold and jewels were missing and rushed to catch up with Wang Da-fu, but he couldn't catch him. Li Lao-shi had to go back and report the case to the authorities. The officials came to Wang Da-fu's house and searched it, and in Wang Da-fu's room they found Li Lao-shi's gold and jewels. However, Wang Da-fu claimed that the gold and jewels were his own, Li Lao-shi couldn't produce evidence, and finally had to leave in resentment. Li Lao-shi's neighbors heard about the incident and laughed at Li Lao-shi, saying he had been cheated and didn't know it. Li Lao-shi felt very wronged and went to an old gentleman in the village to ask for justice.
