Immortality
Explanation
Refers to life existing forever, and the body not perishing. It is an idealized concept that is reflected in many cultures and religions, such as gods or immortal beings in myths and legends.
Origin Story
Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor of China, spent a vast fortune in his pursuit of immortality. He dispatched Xu Fu, leading a group of young boys and girls, to sail east in search of elixirs of immortality. However, Xu Fu failed to find the elixir and ended up stranded overseas. Qin Shi Huang, too, failed to achieve immortality and eventually died in Shaqiu. This story illustrates that immortality is merely a wishful fantasy, and the pursuit of it often leads to dead ends. People should cherish their present lives, live in the moment, and pursue the meaning and value of life.
