Origin Story
During the Spring and Autumn period, there was a great deal of conflict between the ruler of Lu, Duke Zhao of Lu, and the powerful minister Ji Pingzi. At a cockfight, Ji Pingzi's dog bit and killed Duke Zhao's favorite cock. This seemingly trivial incident enraged Duke Zhao, who believed it to be a deliberate humiliation. He ordered an attack on Ji Pingzi, plunging Lu into civil unrest and chaos. The ensuing conflict ultimately resulted in Duke Zhao's defeat and exile, weakening Lu's power and causing great suffering to its people. This disruption, triggered by a single cock, starkly reveals the corruption and brutal power struggles within the ruling class of Lu during that era.
