坐视不理 stand idly by
Explanation
Refers to ignoring things that should be dealt with, indifferent.
Origin Story
During the Warring States period, the State of Qin attacked the State of Han, and Han was on the verge of destruction. The neighboring state of Wei stood idly by, and even secretly supported Qin, which eventually led to the destruction of Han. Wei's actions triggered widespread condemnation and became the subject of criticism in later times. Wei's actions not only harmed its own interests, but also undermined international relations, becoming a lesson in history. Later, this was often used as an example to illustrate that in the face of injustice, one should not stand idly by, but should stand up and uphold justice.
