Origin Story

During the Tang Dynasty, Prime Minister Li Deyu was demoted and exiled because he offended the eunuchs. Before leaving, he went to see the emperor, who greatly admired Li Deyu's talent but was forced to demote him due to the eunuchs' influence. The emperor showed his reluctance, his voice low, saying: 'My loyal minister, I… really have no other choice…’ Li Deyu understood the emperor's difficulties and bowed, saying: 'I accept the order!' Seeing Li Deyu's understanding, the emperor sighed: 'Such a pity… Such a pity…’ In this situation, even though the emperor felt pity, he had no choice but to sadly bid farewell to Li Deyu. Years later, Li Deyu, through his own abilities and achievements, was once again employed by the court. When he returned to court, the emperor was deeply moved to see Li Deyu, once exiled, now back in the court. He recalled the scene of bidding farewell to Li Deyu, with his hesitation and stern demeanor, and sighed deeply. The emperor personally welcomed Li Deyu back and apologized, explaining that his demotion back then was unavoidable. Li Deyu accepted it calmly, affirming his loyalty and willingness to serve the country.
