The Zhang family had lived by the Yellow River for generations, working as farmers. The Yellow River was prone to frequent floods, and generations of Zhangs had experienced many devastating floods, their homes destroyed and crops submerged, making their lives incredibly difficult. Even in relatively calm years, they often faced threats from natural disasters such as droughts and locust plagues. Zhang's father passed away during a severe drought, leaving Zhang and his younger brother to fend for themselves. To survive, they had to leave their hometown and go to work elsewhere, enduring great hardships. Fate, however, seemed to be against them. On their way to work, they encountered a flash flood, and his brother was tragically lost. Zhang, filled with unending sorrow, continued to live. He endured the pain of losing a loved one and the hardships of life, but he never gave up hope, always fighting to live. With diligent hands and unwavering determination, he gradually established himself in the city, creating a new hope for his future.
