During the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a talented young man named Fa Zhen, known for his humility and extraordinary talent, highly respected by the villagers. One day, Fa Zhen met a recluse named Hu Guang, and they engaged in lively conversation, bonding over their shared interests. Fa Zhen, recognizing Hu Guang's profound knowledge, strongly encouraged him to take the imperial examination. Hu Guang initially hesitated, but he eventually relented due to Fa Zhen's sincere persuasion. On the day of the exam, Hu Guang's essay was exceptionally brilliant, brimming with creative ideas. It had a powerful force, beautiful language, and direct expression, demonstrating his extraordinary talent and knowledge. When Emperor An Di of the Han Dynasty saw Hu Guang's work, he exclaimed in delight and gave his highest praise. He announced with a resounding voice: "This essay is the best in the world!" Hu Guang's essay spread rapidly across the nation; it instantly gained much popularity, and his name resonated throughout the court. Soon, the emperor appointed him Shangshu Lang, later promoting him to Shangshu Pushi, making him a high-ranking official. He remained humble, diligent, and worked tirelessly, achieving many good deeds for his people. His story became a model for future generations, showing that with true talent and knowledge, one can achieve great success.
