In an ancient village, there lived an old carpenter and his apprentice. The carpenter was skilled, his wood carvings lifelike, and the apprentice was diligent and studious, with a love for woodworking. Every day they worked together, from material selection to carving, every step in perfect harmony; their figures were always close together, like the trunk and branches of a tree, inseparable. One day, a wealthy merchant came to the village and wanted a fine piece of wood carving as a gift. The old carpenter and the apprentice took the order; they worked day and night, supporting and encouraging each other, eventually completing a stunning work of art. The merchant praised the work effusively and rewarded them handsomely. However, the old carpenter and the apprentice did not become proud and complacent; they still worked together, progressing together, their relationship as fine, solid, and inseparable as the carving itself.
