Origin Story
During the Warring States period, Gao Yang, a minister of the State of Song, was known for his eloquence and his insistence on winning arguments, often using specious arguments to do so. Once, he wanted to build a house. An experienced carpenter saw that the wood for the beams and pillars was still damp, which would lead to the early collapse of the house. Gao Yang, however, argued vehemently that damp wood was advantageous for house building, and had it built that way. A year later, the house actually collapsed.
