Origin Story
话说南宋时期,有个名叫张贵的县令,素来以清廉正直闻名。然而,他却有一个贪婪成性的弟弟,经常为非作歹,仗着哥哥的权势,到处欺压百姓。一天,张贵的弟弟犯了偷盗的罪行,被官府逮捕。张贵虽然知道弟弟犯了法,但他念及兄弟之情,私下里托人去疏通关系,想把弟弟捞出来。消息传到都察院,都察院立刻派人调查此事。张贵徇私舞弊的行为,很快就被揭穿。皇帝得知后,龙颜大怒,下令将张贵革职查办,其弟也受到严惩。张贵的故事,成为后世官员的一面警示镜。
During the Southern Song Dynasty, there was a county magistrate named Zhang Gui, known for his integrity and honesty. However, his brother was greedy and often committed crimes, using his brother's power to bully the people. One day, Zhang Gui's brother was arrested for theft. Although Zhang Gui knew his brother was guilty, he secretly tried to get him released out of brotherly love. The news reached the Censorate, which immediately sent people to investigate. Zhang Gui's abuse of power was quickly exposed. The emperor was furious and ordered Zhang Gui to be dismissed from his post and investigated, and his brother was also severely punished. The story of Zhang Gui serves as a warning to officials.
