In ancient China, there was a young man named Yan Hui who came from a poor family but was diligent and studious, devoted to his studies. He eventually became one of Confucius's most beloved students. Yan Hui was of noble character, humble in his dealings with others, helpful, and highly respected by the people. Though he lived a simple life, he never complained and always maintained an optimistic and positive attitude. After his death, people were very sorrowful and praised him as “德高望重” (Degao Wangzhong).
