Origin Story

In the Tang Dynasty, there was a poet named Li Bai, who was extremely talented but also unrestrained and often offended powerful people. Once, he was invited to a court banquet, and the emperor ordered him to write a poem. After a moment's thought, Li Bai wrote a short poem. It showed his respect for the emperor while also remaining true to his own personality. After finishing the poem, all the officials and generals praised it. They believed it perfectly expressed the respect for the emperor without losing the poet's unique style. Li Bai himself was also very satisfied and felt that he had handled it appropriately. He had expressed his ideas without overstepping the bounds of etiquette. This was the perfect example of "just right". Since then, "just right" has become a model for how people should behave, speak, and act appropriately.
