In 196 AD, Cao Cao forced Emperor Han Xiandi to move his capital to Xu Chang and ordered Sun Quan to send his son to Xudu as a hostage. Sun Quan called his subordinates for a consultation. General Zhou Yu firmly refused to send a hostage, saying that as long as the people of Wu made efforts to become stronger and remained united, they would be invincible. Sun Quan followed Zhou Yu's advice, remained resolute, and resisted Cao Cao, ultimately winning the Battle of Chibi and thwarting Cao Cao's plan to unify China.
