Origin Story
话说江南小镇上，世代居住着两家姓氏：张家和李家。张家以经商起家，富甲一方；李家则世代务农，家境清贫。两家本无瓜葛，直到几十年前，张家祖上与李家发生了一场土地纠纷。张家仗着财势，强占了李家祖传的一块良田。李家为此含冤多年，世代记恨张家。时间过去了几十年，这笔新仇旧恨却一直积累着，如同山峦一般压在李家后人的心头。如今，张家后人张大财，依旧仗势欺人，对李家后人百般刁难。一次偶然的机会，张大财得知李家后人李小二在城里经商发了财，便想方设法要吞并李家的产业。于是，新仇旧恨在两家间再次激化，一场新的争斗即将上演。而这故事，也正是这新仇旧恨的最佳写照。
In a small town in southern China, there lived two families, Zhang and Li, for generations. The Zhangs had become wealthy through business, while the Lis had been farmers for generations and remained poor. The two families had no connection until decades ago when an ancestor of the Zhang family had a land dispute with an ancestor of the Lis. The Zhangs, wielding their power, seized a piece of land that had been handed down through generations of Lis. This injustice fueled resentment in the Lis, and the hatred lingered for decades. Even now, years later, Zhang Daicai, a descendant of the Zhang family, still bullies the Li descendants. He learns that Li Xiaoer, a descendant of the Lis, had become successful in business and aims to seize his wealth. So the old and new hatreds between the two families flare up again, and a new conflict is brewing. The story perfectly exemplifies the expression “xin chou jiu hen”.
