Origin Story

Chunqiu shiqi, Qiguo dacheng Cui Zhu shijun. Weile yange zui xing, ta qiangpo shiguan jiang Qizhuanggong de siyin jilu wei bingsi. Raner, zhengzhi de shiguan jianchi ru shi jilu "shijun" shishi, Cui Zhu naoxiu chengnu, jiang qi shahai. Cui Zhu you shahai le shiguan de didi, dan shishi yiran baolu wu yi. Zhongjiu, shijun de zui xing zhaoran ruo jie, wufa yange. Zhe bian shi "yugaimizhnag" de youlai.

During the Spring and Autumn period, Cui Zhu, a minister of the Qi state, murdered his ruler. To cover up his crime, he forced the court historian to record the ruler's death as a natural death. However, the honest historian insisted on recording the truth, "regicide," which enraged Cui Zhu, who had him killed. Cui Zhu then killed the historian's brother, but the truth remained uncovered. In the end, the crime of regicide became undeniable, and this became the origin of the idiom "欲盖弥彰."
