Origin Story
During the Spring and Autumn period in China, the ruler of Lu, Duke Ding, was controlled by three powerful families, the Ji Sun, Meng Sun, and Shu Sun clans, and became a puppet ruler. One day, Duke Ding heard that Confucius advocated "the order of ruler and subject", so he summoned Confucius to complain about Ji Pingzi's oppression of the people. Ji Pingzi went too far and disregarded the ruler. Confucius analyzed the internal and external problems of Lu and suggested that Duke Ding form an alliance with Qi, rectify the government, and restore the authority of the ruler. Duke Ding followed Confucius' advice, reformed the government, and thus strengthened the power of Lu.
