Explanation

Refers to an unreasonably high price, without any justifiable basis.
Origin Story
Once upon a time, a street vendor was selling watermelons at a market. He picked the biggest one and shouted loudly: “Fresh watermelons, each sweet and big, only one hundred silver pieces!” The onlookers laughed at him for being too greedy, no watermelon was worth that price. Since nobody bought, he had to lower the price. His behavior was a typical example of asking for an exorbitant price.
