During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang, the chancellor of Shu Han, led a large army on a northern expedition and engaged in a fierce battle with the Wei army at Wuzhangyuan. Zhuge Liang skillfully planned and maneuvered, and the Wei army retreated steadily. However, Sima Yi, the Wei army commander, was a cunning strategist and remained steadfast in his positions, preventing the Shu army from achieving a decisive victory. Zhuge Liang eventually exhausted his strength and died at Wuzhangyuan. The Shu army's morale plummeted, and they reluctantly withdrew.
