During the Western Jin Dynasty, Shi Chong, through his own capabilities and means, became one of the wealthiest and most influential aristocrats of his time. His peer was Wang Kai, the emperor's uncle, both possessing immense wealth and power. Once, Wang Kai showed off a newly acquired treasure—a coral tree. Shi Chong smiled calmly and ordered a servant to bring out a larger, more magnificent coral tree than Wang Kai's, causing Wang Kai to admit defeat.
