During the Tang Dynasty, there was an official named Li Ming, who was mediocre in ability but rose through the ranks thanks to his sister's close relationship with the emperor. His sister, well-versed in courtly affairs, often advised the emperor, paving the way for Li Ming's promotion. Li Ming, in turn, used his power to enrich his sister and family, amassing wealth and power. Many talented officials were neglected due to their lack of this kind of "nepotism". Eventually, Li Ming's actions aroused public anger, leading to his dismissal. However, the negative impact he created lasted for a long time, with people sighing that connections were more valuable than ability.
