In the Tang Dynasty, a young scholar named Li Bai was known for his extraordinary talent and stunning poetry. However, he never let this success make him arrogant or complacent; instead, he remained humble and cautious, always eager to learn and improve. One time, he participated in a court poetry competition where the emperor presented a difficult challenge: writing a poem on the theme of dragons. Many officials, racking their brains, failed to produce a satisfactory work. When it was Li Bai's turn, after a moment of contemplation, he effortlessly produced an epic poem "将进酒 (Jiang Jin Jiu)" characterized by grandeur and profound meaning. The poem left everyone in awe. The emperor was delighted and praised Li Bai profusely. Yet, Li Bai remained modest, acknowledging his shortcomings and pledging to continue learning and self-improvement. His humility and caution earned him even greater praise and ensured his steady rise in his career.
