Origin Story
It is said that during the Tang Dynasty, there was a poet named Li Bai who had extraordinary talents and whose poems were famous throughout the country. Once, he came to Chang'an and was summoned by the imperial family. When Li Bai first entered the court, he was arrogant and contemptuous of the many officials and ministers of the imperial court. He spoke loudly and boasted of his talents, despising others and even treating some officials with more experience than himself with disdain. His arrogance and conceit angered many, and even the emperor was displeased. Later, Li Bai was dismissed from his post due to offending powerful people and was sent into exile. Eventually, he died far from his hometown. His fate is a stark example of the negative consequences of arrogance and conceit.
