Falsehoods spread
Explanation

Refers to absurd statements or things that are passed down through generations.
Origin Story
During the Song Dynasty, the imperial examination system was corrupt, and many people without real talent and learning obtained official positions through improper means. He Dan, witnessing this, wrote to the emperor, pointing out the dangers of this practice. He believed that if the selection of officials was not strict, it would lead to the selection of low-ability officials who, after a few years, would participate in the selection of officials again. This cycle would cause errors to be passed down from generation to generation, hindering national progress. It's like sowing a seed of falsehood that grows continuously, eventually becoming a huge tree that blocks the sunlight and hinders the healthy development of the nation. Although He Dan's advice was heeded by the emperor, due to long-standing problems, it was difficult to change immediately, and the seed of falsehood continued to spread. This story warns us to be wary of the spread of falsehoods, to uphold truth, and to prevent errors from being passed down through generations.
