话说唐朝时期，有个名叫张三的秀才，自诩才高八斗，学富五车，一心想在朝廷上做一番大事业。一天，他听说朝廷要举行一场大型的诗词歌赋比赛，便兴冲冲地赶去参加。比赛现场高手如云，张三看到那些参赛者的才华横溢，不禁有些胆怯。可是，他仍然决定拿出自己的作品参赛，想着万一得了奖，那岂不是光宗耀祖？比赛开始了，张三怀着忐忑不安的心情，朗诵了自己的诗作。可是，他的诗作平淡无奇，毫无亮点，甚至连标点符号都用得不太对。台下的评委们，一个个都露出了不屑的神情，有的评委甚至直接打起了哈欠。张三读完诗作后，台下鸦雀无声，只有零星的几声咳嗽。张三尴尬地站在台上，脸涨得通红，心里悔恨不已。他这才明白，自己的水平根本就不够格参加这样的比赛，只能贻笑大方了。他灰溜溜地离开了比赛现场，心里暗暗下定决心，以后要更加努力学习，争取有一天能不负众望，在诗词歌赋领域有所成就。
