Origin Story
After retiring, Lao Zhang returned to his hometown, which he hadn't seen in thirty years. The old tree at the entrance of the village was still standing tall, but the houses had long been replaced. High-rise buildings stood tall, and asphalt roads replaced the muddy paths. As he looked at everything before him, a strong feeling came over him, as if he were in another time. His former friends were now all gray-haired. As they talked, past events seemed like smoke. They reminisced about funny things from their childhood and discussed their future plans, but the passage of time made them feel the ruthlessness of the years. Everything seemed to have changed, but their deep friendship remained. Lao Zhang sighed and said that his hometown had changed so much, as if an era had passed.
