During the Warring States period in China, the young King Ying Zheng ascended the throne and was supported by the Prime Minister Lü Buwei. To win over the hearts of the people and strengthen his power, Lü Buwei organized the compilation of the "Lüshi Chunqiu" (Chronicles of the Spring and Autumn Period by Lü). This work, containing more than 100,000 characters, was displayed at the gates of Xianyang. Lü Buwei announced that anyone who could find a flaw in the book, add or remove a word, would receive a reward of a thousand gold.
