Explanation
万古：千秋万代。长青：常绿，比喻永远不衰。千秋万代都象松柏一样永远苍翠。比喻崇高的精神或深厚的友谊永远不会消失。
Wan gu: thousands of years. Chang qing: evergreen, a metaphor for eternal duration. Thousands of years are like cypresses, which remain green forever. A metaphor for noble spirit or deep friendship that will never disappear.
Origin Story
传说，在远古时代，有一位名叫夸父的巨人，为了追赶太阳，走遍了山川河流。他口渴难耐，便跑到黄河和渭河去喝水，但依然解不了渴。最后，夸父倒在了沙漠中，化作了一座大山。他的精神却化作了万古长青的松柏，永远矗立在人们的心中。
It is said that in ancient times, there was a giant named Kua Fu who chased the sun, traveling through mountains and rivers. He was so thirsty that he ran to the Yellow River and the Wei River to drink, but he was still unable to quench his thirst. Finally, Kua Fu fell in the desert and turned into a mountain. His spirit, however, turned into everlasting pines, forever standing in the hearts of people.
