Origin Story

唐僧师徒四人西天取经，路过一座深山古刹。夜幕降临，他们来到寺院门口，请求住持收留。住持是一位慈眉善目的老和尚，他见四人衣衫褴褛，疲惫不堪，便热情地邀请他们进寺休息。当夜，住持安排师徒四人住在最好的客房，并备上了丰盛的斋饭。用过斋饭后，住持突然想起一件重要的事情，便对唐僧说道：『大师，听说你们从东土大唐而来，一路辛苦，想必带了不少宝物吧？可否让我等开开眼界？』唐僧刚想解释他们并没有携带什么宝物，悟空却不由分说，从包裹里拿出金箍棒，金光闪闪，耀眼夺目。众僧吓得跪倒在地，不住地赞叹这件宝物的神奇。悟空得意洋洋，又从包裹里取出了九齿钉耙，宝莲灯等宝物，一一展示给众人观看。众僧更是惊叹不已，纷纷表示要好好供奉这些宝物。悟空见众人如此恭敬，心中暗自得意，却不知此举违背了佛门清规戒律，为后来的取经之路埋下了隐患。

Tang Sanzang and his four disciples were on their way to the West to obtain scriptures. They passed an ancient temple in a deep mountain. As night fell, they came to the temple gate and asked the abbot to take them in. The abbot was a kind old monk with compassionate eyebrows. Seeing the four of them dressed in rags and exhausted, he warmly invited them into the temple to rest. That night, the abbot arranged for the four disciples to stay in the best guest room and prepared a sumptuous vegetarian meal. After the meal, the abbot suddenly remembered something important and said to Tang Sanzang: "Master, I heard that you have come from the East China, and it must be very hard to travel all this way. You must have brought many treasures, right? May I have a look?" Tang Sanzang was just about to explain that they had not brought any treasures, but Wukong, without saying a word, took out the golden cudgel from his package. The cudgel glittered golden and dazzling. The monks knelt down in fright and kept praising the magical treasure. Wukong was very proud, and he took out the nine-toothed rake and the treasure lotus lantern from his package and showed them to everyone one by one. The monks were even more surprised and said that they would worship these treasures well. Wukong was very pleased to see the monks' respect, but he didn't know that this action violated the Buddhist precepts, which laid hidden dangers for the later journey to the West.
