以镒称铢 to weigh zhu with yi
Explanation
Using the larger unit of weight, Yi, to measure the smaller unit of weight, Zhu, it means one side's strength is strong, while the other side is weak and unable to fight.
Origin Story
During the Spring and Autumn Period, King Helü of Wu sent Wu Zixu to attack the state of Chu. Wu Zixu led the Wu army, advancing swiftly and approaching the capital of Chu. King Chu was terrified when he heard about the Wu army's fierce advance, so he quickly gathered his troops to resist. However, the number and combat capability of Chu’s army were far inferior to that of Wu’s army. Once the battle began, the Chu army collapsed and suffered heavy losses. King Helü of Wu sighed, saying, “The Chu army is incapable of resisting. It's truly ‘measuring Zhu with Yi!’” This story later became the idiom “Yì Yì Chēng Zhū”, used to describe one party's overwhelming superiority over another, as if using Yi to weigh Zhu, easily overcoming the opponent.
