Origin Story
In the Song Dynasty, there was a prime minister named Wang Anshi, who devoted himself to the people and implemented reforms, but was opposed by many court officials. Among them was an official named Sima Guang, who superficially supported Wang Anshi's reforms but secretly obstructed them. He used the convenience of his position, under the guise of public affairs, to secretly embezzle state property, enrich himself, and extort money. After Wang Anshi learned about this, he was very heartbroken and admonished the officials around him: "Sima Guang, as a senior court official, uses his position for private gain, a behavior that is truly hateful! We officials must serve the people wholeheartedly and must never use our public positions for private gain, harming the interests of the state and the people!" Wang Anshi eventually dismissed Sima Guang from office and investigated the case, safeguarding the interests of the state.
