Many monks, little porridge
Explanation

It means there are too many people and too few things, which are not enough to distribute.
Origin Story
Once upon a time, in a remote mountain village, there was an ancient temple. Many monks lived there, and every day people came to beg for alms. However, the villagers were poor and could not support so many monks. One day, the temple was to hold its annual vegetarian meal. The abbot sent the young monks out to beg for alms and prepare the ingredients for the meal. The young monks searched the entire village, but they only collected a small pot of thin porridge. When it was time for the vegetarian meal, the temple was filled with monks, but there was only a small pot of porridge, far from enough for everyone. The abbot reluctantly announced the cancellation of the vegetarian meal, and the monks left the temple hungry. This story became the origin of the idiom "僧多粥少", which describes a situation where many people are reliant on few resources and demand far exceeds supply.
