During the Spring and Autumn Period, the state of Qin planned to attack the state of Zheng. Jian Shu strongly advised against it, believing that a long-distance expedition would result in defeat, but the ruler of Qin ignored his advice. Consequently, the army, deep in enemy territory, fell into an ambush and suffered heavy casualties.
