话说战国时期，有个小国叫卫国，国君卫灵公是个昏庸无能的君主，他的宠臣石碏为人正直，常常劝谏卫灵公，但卫灵公很少听从。一次，卫灵公又犯了一个严重的错误，石碏义正词严地指出了他的错误，卫灵公恼羞成怒，要治石碏的罪。石碏知道自己难逃一死，但为了国家社稷，他决定以死劝谏。他跪在卫灵公面前，说道：“大王，我知道您很生气，但我不能眼睁睁地看着您犯错而不劝谏。我今日冒死进言，只求大王能听从我的劝告，改过自新。我愿唯命是听，一切听从您的安排。”卫灵公被石碏的忠诚和勇气所感动，最终接受了他的劝告，并改正了自己的错误。从此之后，卫灵公对石碏更加尊重，国家也因此逐渐走向了安定和繁荣。
During the Warring States period in ancient China, there was a small state called Wei, whose ruler, Duke Ling of Wei, was a foolish and incompetent monarch. His loyal minister, Shi Ji, was a man of integrity who often advised Duke Ling, but the duke rarely listened. Once, Duke Ling made a serious mistake, and Shi Ji, in righteous indignation, pointed out his error. Duke Ling, ashamed and angry, wanted to punish Shi Ji. Knowing he would likely be killed, Shi Ji decided to advise the duke even at the cost of his life. Kneeling before the duke, he said, "Your Majesty, I know you are angry, but I cannot watch you make mistakes without advising you. I risk my life today to speak to you, hoping you will heed my advice and reform. I will obey your every command.". Moved by Shi Ji's loyalty and courage, Duke Ling finally accepted his advice and corrected his mistakes. From then on, Duke Ling respected Shi Ji even more, and the state gradually became stable and prosperous.
