Landslide and tile disintegration
Explanation
A metaphor comparing a complete and unrecoverable collapse to the crumbling of earth and tiles.
Origin Story
It is said that at the end of the Shang Dynasty, King Zhou was a cruel and incompetent ruler who angered the people. He indulged in debauchery and ignored state affairs. He used unscrupulous advisors and killed many loyal subordinates. The princes rebelled and King Wu of Zhou took the opportunity to go to war. After the Battle of Muye, the Shang army collapsed and King Zhou burned himself in Lutai City. The Shang Dynasty was destroyed. This war was like the collapse of earth and tiles, the rule of the Shang Dynasty completely collapsed and never recovered. This is the origin of "Tǔ bēng wǎ jiě".
