In times of war and violence, even the small village was not spared. The Li family had lived peacefully for generations, working the land. However, a sudden war shattered this peace. The village was occupied by Japanese troops, and the father and son were forced into labor. Their mother stayed home alone, struggling to manage the household and barely escaping the violence. One day, the Japanese troops raided the village. The father sacrificed himself to protect his wife and son. In the ensuing chaos, the mother was killed. Young Li Ming managed to escape, but he was left destitute and alone. The grief of losing his loved ones, and the helplessness of losing his home, cast a long shadow on his young heart.
