During the Tang Dynasty, there was a poet named Li Bai, known for his unrestrained nature and extraordinary talent. One day, while drinking and composing poetry in a tavern, he suddenly heard a commotion downstairs. It turned out that a group of officials were oppressing the common people, who were crying bitterly. Li Bai, filled with righteous indignation, couldn't compose poetry calmly anymore. He slammed his hand on the table, stood up, his hair standing on end, and rushed downstairs to plead for the people, denouncing the corrupt officials. His actions shocked the officials and earned him the praise of the people. Since then, 'pāi àn ér qǐ' has become a common idiom used to describe someone suddenly standing up in anger.
